According to DailyMail.com the National Hurricane Center in Miami is warning residents Hurricane Maria has strengthened to a Cat 3 storm as it headed toward the already battered Caribbean islands. Today Maria begin changing into a major hurricane. The eye is said to be moving through the Leeward Islands today with the storm having a 60 mile center and maximum winds of 120 mph.
The storm is sent to take the same path of Hurricane Irma. Expected to hit Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic and Haiti.
Simultaneously Hurricane Jose continued its path off the East Coast of the U.S. expected to bring the threat of heavy winds and rains of the middle of the week.
Forecasters say there’s still a possibility Jose could make landfall this week. If it does, it will likely hit the eastern end of long Island or southeastern New England on either Wednesday or Thursday.
Even if it doesn’t, it will still bring heavy winds and rain to the I-95 corridor this week, marking a wet start to fall.
